    2018: A Year in Review

So hard to believe we’re already in 2019! Before we move forward towards the New Year let’s have a quick recap of the Old Year, like all years since forever it was jam packed with life. My new refrain is ‘boring is great, I love boring’ though there were not many boring moments in 2018.  It was a fantastic year, so much happening, many special moments, although there were times we barely held on by our fingertips. Let’s get to recapping the old so we can begin the New. Since we began moving into life with older teens I find my time and energy is more limited, so alas blogging for…

2016 The Year That Was: 2017 The Year That Will Be

Every blogger is motivated to write for differing reasons. When I began blogging twelve years ago my initial impetus was to record glimpses of our family life and whilst that vision has shifted to encompass a bigger picture, much of the ‘family diary’ flavour remains. After spending the first couple of days of this year unable to recall what we actually did in 2016, half convinced we mush have just drifted through an entire year, I am rather grateful that I blog. Scrolling back through posts I was pleased to discover we didn’t drift, we did achieve, there was lots of living. Although it wasn’t a strong blogging year as I was in a…

    My Daybook: 8th September, 2016

Outside my window… Spring has arrived, my favourite season of the year, I love Spring with its perfect weather and fresh possibilities I am thankful… that our children are blessed to have such a fantastic father, I never, ever take this for granted. He teaches them so much, not only the obvious such as skills, but virtues, more lasting and precious. Totally committed to fatherhood he pours his energies into nurturing our children, modeling how to be great men for our sons, ‘setting the bar’ high for our daughters I am thinking… about priorities and time management.  All About Learning has very generously gifted me with AAR Level 3 to use and review. Obviously…

How to Raise a Family of Readers – Guest Posting

I’m certain it’s apparent to all that we’re rather passionate about books and reading here. Reading in our household is an integral part of our family culture and highly valued. Simply, reading is something we do as a family. Today I’m chatting over at Sunlit Pages about how PC and I have fostered a love of books and reading within each of our children over the years. As a bonus I interviewed our oldest seven for their thoughts as to what they believe we did to support reading in our family. The children’s insights are fascinating and as their mother I found it enlightening  and heartening to hear reoccurring themes and experiences. Whilst you’re visiting over at Amy’s…

    Welcome To Our New Home

Welcome to our new online home, we are very excited to be able to share our space with you at last. The last couple of weeks have been a time of steep learning and discovery as I’ve been preparing our new ‘abode’. My desire is that you will find this space welcoming, inviting and easy to navigate, please contact me with any comments, queries or requests. One purpose of our new space is to ‘house’ our various websites and blogs under ‘one roof’, to this end we are busy spring cleaning. We will soon be ‘opening the doors’ to a new look for our book website, Aussie Book Threads, where our family shares…
