Wattle Gum Curriculum Foundation The Arts

In Foundation Year there are five Arts focuses:

  • Dance
  • Drama
  • Music
  • Media Arts
  • Visual Arts

Encourage your child to develop their artistic creativity.

Provide opportunities for them to respond to and enjoy the arts.

Your child may have formal lessons in any of these areas outside the home.

 

Dance

Have your child demonstrate fundamental movement skills and perform dance in informal settings.

 

Drama

Provide space for your child to improvise and collaborate in mini ‘plays’. Re-enact fairy tales, perform informally to the family.

 

Music

Play and sing a variety of music in your home as a family.

Your family may choose to include Music Appreciation in your learning.

Your child may learn a musical instrument.

 

Media Arts

Assist your child in using media technologies. These may include photographs and videos to convey feelings and to tell a story.

 

Visual Arts

Encourage your child to create artworks that communication ideas and meaning. Display them in your home.

Use a variety of materials. You may include: sculptures, drawing with charcoal and pastels, and water colours.

Your family may choose to include Art Appreciation in your learning.
