Wattle Gum Curriculum Year 6 Technology
Year Six has two strands: Design and Technology, and Digital Technology.
- This year your child will design and produce at least one designed product of their choice.
- They will look at the impact of technologies on design decisions
- They will understand how people design products to meet the needs of the community.
- Further their basic coding skills
- Identify their digital footprint and understand its permanence.
- Support your child in being comfortable with digital technology; including computers and phones. Discuss with them privacy and security issues.
- Your family may minimise the use of computers in your home, that is fine.
- Your child can still apply computational thinking in solving real life problems.
- Most important is to foster your child’s creative and innovative skills. Teach them how to break down problems to find solutions.
- Provide your child with opportunities to identify needs and create solutions. Many technology skills are naturally covered in rich learning environments.
Our Technology curriculum, resource recommendations and implementation instructions are in the printable pdf.
