Koko the Kookaburra Who Couldn’t Laugh

Description

Mr and Mrs Kookaburra gave their three chicks, Caroline, Castanet and Koko, laughing lessons. After a while they began to notice there was a problem. Koko wasn’t laughing at all. Supported by the Australian Wildlife Conservancy.

Did you know that Kookaburras mate for life? Female Kookaburras will lay 2-4 eggs at a time. The whole family then helps to raise and protect the young. Trees are very important to the Kookaburra’s survival because they use them to roost and nest in and to perch in when hunting for prey. When trees are removed, Kookaburras have fewer sites where they can breed and feed, and this can lead to a decline in their numbers. A beautifully illustrated, educational children’s book about our Australian wildlife and the importance of environmental protection.
