Nanbaree

Description

Children’s book, told in blank verse, about a six year old Aboriginal boy who was adopted by Surgeon White of the First Fleet and acted as interpreter for Governor Philip. Profusely illustrated with pictures from the Watling Collection. Thomas Watling was assigned to illustrate White’s collection of plants and animals, and also drew several portraits of Nanbaree, with whom he lived in the same house.
