Painting Up A Storm
We’ve been ‘painting up a storm’ here this week. Preparing our kitchen space in anticipation for the arrival of the flat pack has meant not only one room needed to be painted but three, the kitchen and the rooms that ‘flow on’, the dining and learning rooms. Bass(5) was so eager to assist that we decided he was ready to become an apprentice.
Michelangelo (17) has become a master at painting ceilings, which is fortunate as I simply don’t have the upper body strength required.
It always astounds me as to how a coat of paint, even undercoat makes such a difference to the lightness of a room.
Michelangelo truly did a magnificent job of the ceiling. The ‘missing’ cornices will be added once the tall and overhead cupboards are in as PC has to build a bulkhead around them.
Jack Jack(10) and Jem(7) were keen to help with the cutting in and have progressed sufficiently with their painting abilities that I can trust them with the colour coats.
Progressing slowly and steadily with the paint edge trimmer I succeed in cutting in with a neat line.
Our kitchen space awaits, I’m certain you can feel how incredibly excited I am. Oh and the white spaces will be covered by cupboards.
Dining room, with the kitchen tucked in to the left. The learning room is in the foreground, though this picture doesn’t do it justice, it’s more than double this size.
Next task is to finish laying the floorboards and sand and poy-urethane them.

We’ve used this colour throughout our whole house and it’s just such a warm, inviting colour. I know white is all the rage and I do like it but….I thought white and my bunch of kids wasn’t wise 😉
Progress is being made on the kitchen, watch this space for updates.
