7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 144)

I just love these words our new Holy Father, Pope Francis spoke during the Urbi et Orbi, so beautiful.
“And now, we take up this journey: Bishop and People. This journey of the Church of Rome which presides in charity over all the Churches. A journey of fraternity, of love, of trust among us. Let us always pray for one another. Let us pray for the whole world, that there may be a great spirit of fraternity. It is my hope for you that this journey of the Church, which we start today, and in which my Cardinal Vicar, here present, will assist me, will be fruitful for the evangelization of this most beautiful city. “

Managed to make it to Midday Mass today, and oh the thrill to hear the words during the preface, “We pray for our Pope Francis, Bishop….”  tingles.

I ‘borrowed’ this video from Jen, ’cause I really can’t get enough of  THE MOMENT!!!
This just sends shivers all over, crying again.
(Having a little trouble with codes, click on the words ‘The Election of Pope Francis’ on the top left)

We’ve been studying hard with our papal notebook, deep learning, but obviously some ‘gaps’ still exist. I was asking Jelly Bean, “The office of the Pope is called a…?”  She looked blank and shrugged her shoulders, so I prompted  “A pa.., pa…” She brightened and suggested, “A pavlova?” “Ah, a papacy”. Obviously more study is called for.

A funny from Jack Jack (6): I was explaining how the electrician was coming to install lights and fans!! (sneak preview more to come Monday)  He didn’t understand, “But we have lights” I responded, “real lights, not extension leads and lamps.” He pondered, this child who was only three when we started extensions, now he understood, “You mean switch lights!”

Children’s perspectives are so sweet, a couple of the younger children were discussing family size, one stated we were a big family, always intrigued by their thought processes I asked, “How many children would make a small family”, “Six” was the prompt response.  I smiling told this to a much older child and asked how many children he thought constituted a small family, “four”.  Fascinating, obviously subjective to their life experiences.

I’m on a financial challenge at present, all good, I enjoy these sorts of challenges.  Life as Mom has some great posts on Budget Living. I’ve been making some changes in various areas and I’m hoping to share some tips soon.
