My Daybook: October 15, 2013

Outside my window…
the grass is so brown, we are desperately needing rain.  Our rainwater tanks are nearly empty and we’ve informed the children, one minute showers, on the spray.  Oh how I dislike the shower head being turned to spray.  No rain forecasted any time foreseeable:(

I am thankful…
to have my ‘boy’ home again. At 16 this was Einstein’s first time on a plane, his first time off to the Big Smoke to spend a week and a half with his College siblings.  He LOVED it, so much happening down there and he enjoyed spending time with his big sister and brother. He thoroughly enjoyed the Ball too, I can’t wait to see pictures of our three all dressed up:)

I am thinking…
about Christmas presents and Advent preparations.  Or rather I’m thinking I should be doing so, I only have nine weeks until the baby is due and I’d love to be totally organised by the beginning of Advent. Am I being realistic?

Learning all the time
Loving our Leaping into Literature focus, oh how I love this gentle rhythm.  A perfect blend of freedom within structure.  Loving the resurrection of our ‘Gathering Time’ each morning, a perfect way to begin our days. We’ve read so many books, the children are keen to chose their writing assignments from their narration jar, and our new maths program, MEP is a great fit.

Celebrating the liturgical year……
As I’ve finally updated the database with our liturgical year resources I’m feeling hopeful we may actually celebrate a time or two.  We have read a few relevant books on the corresponding days so that is good, and the resurrection of our ‘Gathering Time’ is helping us keep a lovely daily rhythm.

From the kitchen…
today I’m planning to bake banana bread, or muffins, or cake, haven’t decided yet, just know those ripe bananas are ready to be used.

I am creating…
a baby.  Doing really well in the mornings but frankly by the afternoon I crash and have to rest.

I am working on…
keeping the homefires running smoothly.  Lessons, housework, cooking, loving my husband and children pretty much takes all my energy at present. Not that the loving is a chore, it’s a pleasure.

I am going…
to try to be more consistent and interesting in my blog posts.  More conscious of taking photos of our children going about their daily lives.

I am hoping…
to have the energy to tackle the ironing pile.  Ironing one shirt each morning isn’t the best approach, PC is so patient. Also hoping to have the house looking ‘sparkling’ for the visit of PC’s mother and aunts this weekend.

I am praying…
for my children, a couple of intentions in particular.  My brother and his brand new fiancee:) For friends, one expecting, a couple local and a couple overseas.

I am reading…
my way through all the Thomas and Charlotte Pitt novels. Love these books, re-reading some, newly reading others.  Learning so much about Victorian England, very glad to live in this Century.

I am hearing…
silence, at least for a few more minutes before the younger boys awaken.

Clicking around…
31 Days to Morning Time: Ordo Amoris Inspirational!
Thoughts on Crafting a Plan for a Living Liturgy: Everyday Snapshots  The best plan I have ever seen! Laid out so clearly!
MEP Maths: Peaceful Day Must do’s laid out succinctly so I can easily follow.

Around the house…

well it is a house under construction, on the weekend PC and Michelangelo began building the second stage of our verandah.  So wide and long, envisaging parties and special occasions on this verandah:)

One of my favorite things…
Going op-shopping.  Hoping to duck into a shop whilst in town today and snag a pair of swim shorts so I can join the children in the pool.
A few plans for this week…
Midwife’s visit today, at the hospital.  I love shared care, I actually enjoy visiting the midwife and the obstetrician under this plan. Brilliant!
PC’s mother and aunts visiting:)

A little peek at my day…
Swimming, swimming and more swimming.
