7 Quick Takes: Lots of Projects
Head on over to This Ain’t the Lyceum to read more 7QT for this week. 1 We use the Readerware database to keep track of our extensive collections of movies and books. I love being able to track what books (and movies) we do and don’t have and one day I’m going to splurge and buy the mobile phone app as well, it will save having to ring from town asking my teens to check the database. It’s rather fun hearing the beep as the scanner reads each bar code as new books enter our home (and the database), yep I’m a nerd. One thing irks me though, some sellers place their price tag…

7 Quick Takes: Spinning Plates
Head on over to This Ain’t the Lyceum to read more 7QT for this week. 1 When I take a look at our calendar for the upcoming month I nearly hyperventilate, there is so much happening in our life at present, so many ‘plates’ I need to start ‘spinning’ and keep them spinning weeks prior to the events. Two birthdays, which translates to deciding on and ordering presents online weeks ahead, it is also a party year for one child, so invites to go out and party games and food to be planned and executed. There’s my sister’s engagement party which will involve a seven hour round trip in one day. A Family Reunion…

7 Quick Takes: Engagements And More Engagements
Head on over to This Ain’t the Lyceum to read more 7QT for this week. 1 Just over a month ago I wrote my first 7 Quick Takes after four years and had every intention regards sharing 7QT’s regularly, and yet three more 7QT’s have gone by and I’ve been missing in action. Though if you’ve been reading my blog you’d realise plenty has been happening here in the interim. Five days after that post we were threatened with a bushfire, in which we were evacuated and subsequently had 85% of our land burnt, fortunately our house was spared. Too we’ve been enjoying the news and flurry of action since our eldest son Carpenter became…

7 Quick Takes: ‘Back in the Saddle’
Head on over to This Ain’t the Lyceum to read more 7QT for this week. 1 Yes, yes I’m back writing 7 Quick Takes after a four year hiatus from 7QT. If I have any readers left, which would surprise me 😉 you would have noticed I’ve hardly written anything for the past year. When tossing around ideas on how to get out of my blogging slump I decided committing to 7 Quick Takes, something I used to do regularly back in my blogging hey day could be a great way to get the creative juices flowing. So why haven’t I being writing? There is the standard, “life is so full”…

I’m Nominated for Best Variety Blog!
Imagine my surprise when I discovered I’ve been nominated for… Best Variety Blog over at the Homeschool Blog Awards!!! After reading Angela’s astonishment at being nominated for Best Nitty Gritty Blog (perfect nomination for her!) I wandered over and received my own pleasant surprise. HSBA define a Best Variety Blogger as: “This blogger is one that could fit in any of these categories…but they just can’t be pinned down in ONE. This type of bloggers is always moving on from one thing to the next…and always keeping you interested in coming back for more!” Oh wow, always keeping you interested in coming back for more, I sure hope so. I do know I have some…

This morning I was delighted to receive the Liebster Award from Renee. The Liebster award is a high five in recognising and supporting the work of fellow bloggers. Renee is a talented writer; articulate, thought provoking and engaging, I am surprised and humbled to receive this award from Renee. 1. If you could star in a movie, which one would it be? Struggling to answer this one..how about Cheaper By The Dozen (the old version) I’m nearly living that;) Obviously I’ll be the mother, warm and efficient. Mmm maybe I need to keep working on the efficient part. 2. Tell me something you are good at. Talking, definitely talking;) I hope I’m…

Posted: Funniest Post
Joining in over at Sarah’s, sharing my funniest post. I chose Dear Older Sibs, a letter I Bass wrote whilst shivering in the wee hours one morning. I Bass sent this letter to our College kids and teens and they all thought it funny. A little light hearted ‘tongue in cheek’ humour. Dear Older Sibs, I just want to say thanks! I know you put in all the hard work and I’m reaping the benefits, but you did it, you broke mum and dad in and I’m grateful……. head over to read the rest

Nominated for Best Blog By A Mum!
Voting for the 2014 Sheenazing Awards is now open. Imagine how delighted I was to discover I’ve been nominated as a contender for Best Blog By A Mom! My first time ever to be in the running for a blog competition like this. Maybe I’m supposed to be super cool and appear nonchalant but, well I never was cool. So thank you to my dear reader/s who nominated me I’m rather honoured. There’s fun to be had over at the awards, lots of blogs nominated for the various categories. Many familiar friends, it will be so hard to choose between them. Plenty of new blogs to discover too, I’ve spent…
