The Feast of The Annunciation
Such a busy fortnight with celebrations. Today was the Feast of The Annunciation. We celebrated by reading Mary the Mother of Jesus by Tomie De Paola, whilst the younger children made Angels. The older children made Annunciation tableau’s from fimo. We had planned to make waffles I even borrowed a waffle iron, but alas, that wasn’t to be. Faith Filled Days has ideas gathered for celebrating The Annunciation if you are in a ‘last minute rush’. Don’t I just know that feeling;) Happy Feast Day to all:)

Feast of St Joseph
One of Michelangelo’s patron saints is St Joseph so he started preparing yesterday for today’s Feast. He organised himself to create cards, decorating and narrating his St Joseph’s life. As this was all of his own volition I was pretty happy:) Unbeknown to Michelangelo, Princess made him a secret card and he awoke this morning to a card with a $2 coin in it! As our children have little money her generosity was impressive.(Isn’t it the moments like this that make our mommy hearts swell with love?) Various events conspired today so it has been pretty low key but Princess made a 3D virtual altar, and Michelangelo, Jelly Bean and…

Happy St Patrick’s Day
Today it was only the little ones and I as PC took the five oldest to Wet and Wild. So we celebrated St Patrick’s Day ‘little people’ style. We painted shamrocks, and then decorated a second shamrock with crepe paper. As this is also one of Jack Jack’s name days we got into the swing and baked patty cakes with green icing. Jack Jack didn’t quite understand our intentions regards the green food colouring and insisted on adding it to the batter as well! Happy St Patrick’s Day to all:)

A Wonderful New Liturgical Site
If you are like me and always scrambling for ideas, and food ideas in particular, at the last minute then you will find Catholic Cuisine a goldmine. One of my most favourite features is that the posts are generally up a day or so before the Feast. This enables me to get prepared, and to actually achieve some of their wonderful ideas. I encourage you to go on over for a visit:)

My Liturgical Plans
Every New Year I make many of the same New Year Resolutions. One always at the head of the list is ‘This is the Year we will consistently live the Liturgical Year’ Despite good intentions it never works out as well as I would like. In part this is due to lack of planning. By nature I am more of a ‘fly by the pants’ sort of girl. I have known for some time for my plans to succeed I have to plan ahead. When I saw Anne’s ‘Calendar List of all my Saints Books’ on her sidebar I knew I had found my ‘diving board’. These holidays I finally…

Miraculous Medal Craft
Today is the Feast of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. In honour of Our Blessed Mother’s feast we created out own miraculous medals. Yesterday I posted links to Anne’s blog and shared that we were off to the shop to see what our craft shop yielded. Alas, as I thought I found nothing as fantastic as Spotlight but still enough to suit our needs. I purchased 5 flat oval(90cm) craft wood pieces for the older children and 2 small circles of craft wood for the younger two as they never want to be left out. The children painted these blue. For the stars we punched out stars with the…

Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal
Tomorrow(Australian time) is the Feast of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. In typical ‘me’ fashion I am running only half a step ahead in liturgical planning. If you are looking for an absolutely invaluable craft (major project) go no further than here and continued here, and the completed project. I am about to dash out the door to see what my local Crazy Clark’s has to offer, unfortunately we don’t boast a Spotlight here:( I’ll let you know what I find.
