    Blog Review 2010

Looking back over the year it is interesting to note which blog posts were most popular with my readers.  By no means are these the ones I receive the most comments for, in fact some of the most popular posts receive no comments!  Most interesting. My stats button on the dashboard doesn’t work, so my only way of noting popular posts is the Popular Posts gadget on the sidebar, predominately what is there currently has been there consistently for the last few months.  I actually suspect some of these posts must be generously linked to on other blogs somewhere, but I know not where.  (I’d love to know if you…

    No More Pain!

This past week I have been in constant pain, which has triggered reflections on just how debilitating a life long illness is. I was raised in a home where pain was a constant companion, pain dominated and affected every area of our family life. At the age of 20 my father was severely injured in the workplace, he lifted a roll of lino and fell to the fall never to be the same again. He spent the next three months in a body cast and on an plethora of pain killers. Thanks to the accident and incompetent medical care he had life long spinal injuries. In layman’s terms, the vertebrae…

    I’m 100% Roman Catholic!

HT: To KAlexa at Life in the Little Nest; I thought it would be fun to see what my Theological Worldview was. [I did kind of know already;)] If you think you might give it a try I can guarantee it has some rather tough questions. I had to really think and I had to google for more information on some questions to know just where I stood. [Now I have to google to understand what Neo Orthodox etc are] You Scored as Roman Catholic You are Roman Catholic. Church tradition and ecclesiastical authority are hugely important, and the most important part of worship for you is Mass. As the…

    I’m Baaack…

Three weeks ago Jem and I left for Tasmania. I fully intended on an update as soon as we were home; however due to the ‘death’ of our satellite dish the day we arrived home I have been unable to do so. We have been without internet connection for the last two weeks and I am currently on borrowed dial up; still no dish. So stay tuned for the next couple of weeks as I have many posts to share of experiences enjoyed and thoughts percolating. Meanwhile I’ll continue to enjoy moments like these.

    Understanding Autism

Many readers no doubt know somebody on the autistic spectrum, perhaps you have a friend whose child has autism, a relative, or maybe you are coming to grips within your own family trying to understand all it entails for your own child. My friend Tricia at Do Whatever He Tells You gives the most comprehensive explanation in layman’s language that I have ever read. I really understand so much more after reading her Surfing the Spectrum. I encourage you to pop on over and read.

    New Year’s Party Invitation

Happy New Year:) Last night we celebrated New Year’s Eve with friends, in fact this has been our tradition for the past nine years. Our partying originally started with three families and between us we rotate hosting an annual Christmas party (usually the 20th) and New Year Eve’s party. Over the years our circle has grown and so have the number of children; generally speaking the parties range between 35-50+ people. To the children especially these parties speak tradition. Their important list of must dos includes staying up to midnight and screaming “Happy New Year”. Last night was small, 38 big and little friends celebrating together. New Year is a…

It is best to die after…

It may have been the reflectiveness of Holy Week, it may simply be the way boys minds work but on Holy Thursday I overheard these snippets of a conversation between my boys. “When do you think is the best time to die? I think it would be really good to die in a car crash on your way home from Mass.” “I want to die a Happy Death.” “I think it would be better to come out of Confession and die right then.” “Not straight away, after your Penance is better.” “Oh yes, after you have said your Penance.” Don’t children cut right to the heart of the matter, it…
