7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 73)

I’ve had a couple of friends ask me about our current resident ‘batty’, as the children call him. Am I scared of sharing my space with a flying fox? Truthfully, I’m not too thrilled with the idea, however other family members think I’m being rather squeamish and the bat does a wonderful job keeping down the mosquito population.
He is getting bigger though and bolder. At 9pm a couple of nights ago he was swooping over our heads as we watched television in the loungeroom, then I discovered he is roosting in my library!! Discovery occurred when I turned on the light and he came out at me.

Our study was the hottest room in the house until the weekend when PC installed an extraction fan into the wall. It has been truly surprising the difference this has made. The temperatures have drastically dropped:)

Thanks to a tip from a dear friend I have just discovered Evernote. I’ve just finished creating pages of my former bookmarks and deleted lots of links whilst I was working,. So I’m feeling like I’ve just finished a major spring clean:) Being a visual girl I can see that a page labeled Science with subtopics is far more usable than bookmarked links. Of course you can use Evernote for so many more ideas; recipes, booklists, etc
Update: Just noted that Jennifer is excited about Evernote too; her life is divided into before and after Evernote:)

Last week I asked for baby and blog name suggestions. I received some ideas and am pleased to announce that our child shall have a name:):) Such a relief, I can go into labour now;) just joking.
As for blog names the consensus appears that this blog wouldn’t be the same without the Seven Little Australians title. So I’m now batting around with ideas such as ‘Seven Little Australians and More’ or something to that effect.

Visited the obstetrician this week, and had a lovely chat with the midwife (Ob. share cares). Midwife asked if I was concerned about my weight, “No” I answer, “It is just I was hoping for a nice little 8lb baby and at this rate it could be 10lb”. She reassured me with the thought that more like a nice 9lb babe. Apparently the school of thought now is that going over an extra week to 10 days doesn’t necessarily ensure huge baby growth, it is all individual.

With 4 weeks (or perhaps 5) to go I’m starting to make lists. Lists of tasks easier to do before the baby arrives, lists of must do’s, ie. wash clothes and drag furniture out of storage, and then lists of what I’d like to do such as plaster and paint our bedroom.

I’m using Windows to the World with my older two teens this year. An thorough program designed to
teach Gr 9-12 students how to analyze elements of literature. I am extremely happy with the program thus far. The first chapter covered annotation, the second allusions, both biblical and literature allusions. Well written and our older two are doing very well.

Windows to the World sounds interesting. I might try to have a look sometime.

It is so individual. My four were all nine days late and ranged in weight from 7lbs 7oz to 8lbs 4 oz. I think alot of it has to do with the height of the mother, as weird as that sounds. I'm only 5'6" but all of my taller friends have had bigger babies!
