7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 189)
1 Do you know how to easily add a drop down menu bar to blogspot blogs? I’ve been googling for an answer but the only solution appears to be manually entering each link and category name. I have a lot of categories for navigation ease, so manually adding would be quite time consuming. I’d love find a simple solution. 2 Lisa alerted me to the A-Z blogging challenge for April, every day of April excluding Sundays, you write a blog post beginning with the letter for that day. I’ve already written up a list of possible posts, for at least half of the alphabet. Over 1000 mad bloggers have…

7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 188)
1 My wrists are continuing to ache, it’s been four months now of sharp, intense pain. Do you have any idea how often you move your wrists? Lots and lots! I’m a huge reader, this week PC suggested perhaps the weight of the book (many of the books I read are hardcover) and the still position of hands maintained whilst reading wouldn’t be helping. He suggested I go back to my ereader which I’m endeavouring to do, however… I can’t remember how to transfer the book from my computer to my ereader. Perhaps I should give up reading any fiction for Lent. 2 Yesterday my friend Margaret and I were…

7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 187)
1 I had one of those crazy moments this week, where common sense departs and you think for a moment you could indeed be superwoman. Soccer season begins soon and we received an email regarding our 7 year son’s team, asking for a coach and manager. For a moment, just one crazy moment I thought that I should volunteer to be manager. Then I considered that I have three children to shuttle to games and another who is refereeing and I’ll have a pre-schooler and a wee babe.. sanity returned, I didn’t volunteer. 2 I really think most parks nowadays are boring, maybe safer but certainly they don’t provide much…

1 Bella is growing rapidly and is very long, she has outgrown her 000s and is ready for 00s, but I’m resisting, as was highlighted by my conversation with PC this week. PC: Bella is too small for 000s, you’re pulling her shoulders down to fit this outfit on. (an all-in-one suit) Me: But I want her to stay small, I want her to stay in 000s as long as possible. After saying that I realised how ridiculous I sounded, but the size tussle continues, PC dresses her in 00s, I dress her in 000s and PC complains I’m hunching her shoulders. True, all true but I’m not in a…

7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 185)
1 50% of people who get tattoos later regret doing so. Interesting, chatting about this with our children. We have a friend who is a dialysis nurse and she says the heavy ink tattoos which are quite popular in our country town and which often cover a large percentage of patients’ bodies, makes it hard to find a vein. More food for thought. 2 So why am I thinking tattoos anyway? Well I was thinking of getting one.. okay not really. Last week I had a localised cancer removed from my arm, resulting in six stitches. My younger children find the sight of the stitches a little too much to…

7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 184)
1 Anna Maria returns to College tomorrow, Carpenter has already returned to the Big Smoke for work. It’s important for them to ‘fly the nest’ but it doesn’t make us miss them the less. Happily our two will be sharing a house this year, this makes us very happy to know they will there for each other even more. 2 Many times in ‘this space’ I choose to focus on the positives, but I do hope my readers realise life here isn’t always smooth. Monday mid-morning I had one of those absolute frustrating times, that I’m sure is universal to all parents, when our children aren’t doing what they…

7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 183)
1 Last week you all were as horrified as I that I’m having an allergic reaction to wine. If my comment box is any indication this is considered a catastrophe indeed;) Thanks to Olivia we have a solution, ‘aha…me too, but I’ve found a solution b/c giving up the wine isn’t one. “Pure wine” is sold by Dan Murphys, it’s a tiny little bottle and one drop per wine glass counteracts the preservatives in wine. It’s brilliant. Otherwise just buy ‘preservative free wine’Thanks Olivia, my darling PC researched, purchased and surprised me with a Pure Wine bottle tonight. Trialed already, all for research purposes of course, anything for my readers;)…

7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 182)
1 Last week I realised I had been rather remiss as a parent, Bella was already 5 weeks old and I had neglected to fill in a form that will assure her of future success. All is fine now, has been taken care of, last week Bella was issued with a library card. 2 The children have done the maths, as each card holder is entitled to borrow 30 books, our household could borrow 360 books at one time! 3 Our new branch library has still not opened. First opening was scheduled for January, then February and now March. The building is looking excellent, I’ve taken a peek at the…

7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 181)
1 Urban legends often portray sisters fighting over clothes, bickering and demanding back the articles ‘borrowed’. We don’t have that around here, our 20yr old and 12 yr old are the same size in clothing and happily share clothing and accessorises whilst chatting fashions. Our teen boys however are a whole ‘nother story. Let me tell you teen boys are quite possessive over their clothing, demanding instant removal of said ‘borrowed’ articles. Often times it’s my fault when sorting clothing, as all three are the same size, have similar tastes in clothing and sometimes even buy the same article (men’s clothing options in our town are limited), really, nearly…
