2019: Happy New Year!
Happy New Year 🙂 May 2019 bring you many blessings. Well we’ve had the laziest start to the New Year; late nights, late mornings, loads of reading, jigsaw ‘battles’, board games, floating away hours in our new little pool, days by the River, essentially the perfect recipe for Summer days, recharging from an epic year and gearing up for no doubt another epic year. At some stage during our children’s teen years our lives became, full to the brim and overflowing and they have flowed continuously since. This year our eldest Son Carpenter will marry his darling fiancee Rose, so I imagine that will guarantee to top our charts of…

2018: A Year in Review
So hard to believe we’re already in 2019! Before we move forward towards the New Year let’s have a quick recap of the Old Year, like all years since forever it was jam packed with life. My new refrain is ‘boring is great, I love boring’ though there were not many boring moments in 2018. It was a fantastic year, so much happening, many special moments, although there were times we barely held on by our fingertips. Let’s get to recapping the old so we can begin the New. Since we began moving into life with older teens I find my time and energy is more limited, so alas blogging for…

2016 The Year That Was: 2017 The Year That Will Be
Every blogger is motivated to write for differing reasons. When I began blogging twelve years ago my initial impetus was to record glimpses of our family life and whilst that vision has shifted to encompass a bigger picture, much of the ‘family diary’ flavour remains. After spending the first couple of days of this year unable to recall what we actually did in 2016, half convinced we mush have just drifted through an entire year, I am rather grateful that I blog. Scrolling back through posts I was pleased to discover we didn’t drift, we did achieve, there was lots of living. Although it wasn’t a strong blogging year as I was in a…

2017: Happy New Year!
Happy New Year ! May 2017 bring you many blessings. It’s the New Year already with plenty of fresh possibilities and like many I’ve been considering My Word for the New Year. My Word for 2017 is Intentional. Intentional, particularly about my use of time which then flows on to so many other areas; relationships, parenting, prayer life, health, home management and all sorts of achievements. Yep intentional sums it up. To be honest I find myself rather bewildered to already be in a New Year when it feels as if the last year hasn’t drawn to a close. I can’t convince myself I’m in 2017 until my brain ‘wraps…

2016: Happy New Year!
Happy New Year ! A New Year always comes with exciting possibilities or perhaps new challenges, depends on how we interpret it 😉 It’s been so long since I’ve managed to have a chat with you. Life indeed has been bursting and overflowing. We’ve achieved so much living in the last month and I’m looking forward to catching you up on it all. Our son’s Graduation from College, thousands of kilometres traveled, more building achievements, our Bella’s 2nd birthday, Christmas with extended family and our immediate, our first family holiday in 14 years. Truthfully I entered the New Year feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. December and the weeks proceeding were rather epic.…

Culling Years of Photos
A few weeks ago our computer warned, “Your space is very low, you only have 10MB left”. Considering our hard drive has the capacity for 500GB something was swallowing up space. Turning to my resident computer expert, he (PC) informed me it was time to cull my photos. I hadn’t culled photos in any consistency at all, well make that never, since the advent of our first digital camera in 2006. That made for alot of work over the past few weeks, I have literally spent hours and hours, clicking through and deciding what to keep and what not too. I have deleted thousands of photos. What have I learnt…

Body Image and The Power of Words
This week I engaged in a conversation with a young lady about body image, specifically her body image, in which I challenged/encouraged her that the words she had heard from childhood were not true. This led to reflection upon my body image, perceptions I have held over from my childhood. It highlighted to me that the words that are said to a young girl/boy linger long into adulthood, in my case decades. What others say to us help form our thoughts about who we are, how we look, and these images may actually be not true. Firstly I wish to emphasis that I have a reasonable healthy sense of self, I’m…

2015: A Brand New Year
Happy New Year!:) I’m always excited to greet the beginning of a new year, fresh with new possibilities, new adventures to live, new dreams to unfurl. This year in part I’m also a little keen to usher out 2014, which whilst a year of many, many, blessings, was also a year of many challenges. I enjoy setting goals for the New Year, this action gives me clarity and direction, by thinking about and recording my goals I have a good chance of reaching many of them. I’m realistic in knowing that it’s all a ‘work in progress’ and each year isn’t that dissimilar to the last, I’m happy with that.…

14 Things I Learnt in 2014
I know I’ve already shared a few reflections about 2014, but when I read Gina’s 14 Things I Learnt in 2014 (thanks for the HT: Theresa) I couldn’t resist joining the fun. Yes I know her post really says Learned but that’s American speak, I was compelled to change the wording to English, so Learnt it is;) So the first fourteen things that come to mind…. 1. Savouring your baby’s first year in your 40s has a different tone to enjoying your baby in your 20s, the feeling just goes ‘down to the bones’. 2. Talking about your 40s, this decade does change you in many ways, and I’ve finally accepted…
