7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 80)
1 After studying for his CPA (Charted Practicing Accountant) Certificate for the past three years, PC completed his last exam yesterday!!! I am so proud of him, in that time we have begun extensions, had two babies and he has commenced a new job. He is awesome. 2 Bass is smiling already!!:):) Five weeks old, he is such a happy, placid baby. Ready for 00s already! 3 PC bought a cool baby monitor. The stationary unit sits in our room, powered by either electricity or battery and we wear the ‘receiver’ on our wrist. Thus enabling us to walk from room to room without worries. My sister thought it so cool she bought her…

7 Quick Takes Friday ( Vol 79)
1 Our dining table is currently an 8-10 seater, an antique I restored at17. (Due for another restoration) Once Bass is seated at the table we will have seriously outgrown the table. I’m looking for a 12-14 seater but suspect finding a table of this proportion will be nigh impossible, I’m suspecting I shall have to turn my hand to making one. 2 Talking furniture, I am seeking a cube bookcase, to house our picture books. Most likely another piece of furniture we may have to make, particularly as I want solid timber. 3 Tracey at Little Men in my Library has posted some great book posts recently; Anzac Day titles, Making Tracks- History…

7 Quick Takes Friday ( Vol 78)
1 I have just finished reading Christopher Paolini’s Inheritance Cycle. Madly loved by my teens I thought it was time to read these books, I really, really enjoyed them. A few areas I’d like to discuss with my children, but engaging and very well written. 2 On my beside table is Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children from a Nature-Deficit Disorder, I’m half-way through this book, so grateful that we live in the bush and our children have many opportunities to engage with nature. A great read for any concerned parent. 3 Reading blogs in google reader is much quicker than loading up a blog page. I find it very…

1 There are definite benefits to birthing in a country hospital, and a number of times at that;) Over the years we have got to know the majority of the staff, and they all took such excellent care of us. Very personalised. 2 I was reflecting during my stay in maternity how the simple, little moments bring pleasure. That first shower after birthing, meal times, being able to shave your legs again;) quiet time with just you and your newborn. 3 I’ve experienced births in; a birthing centre, home birth and hospital. There is alot to be said for being in a hospital when all does not go well. I…

7 Quick Takes Friday ( Vol 77)
1 Well yes, I’m still here waiting. I’m only three days overdue so really I should be more patient, but truthfully I’m longing to meet our new sweet babe. The midwife reassures me that baby should be only 9lb, so I’m hoping, but I do think I’m beginning to look rather huge. 2 One benefit of waiting is I channelled lots of energy into lessons this week. Jelly Bean finished one of her Sacramental Preparation books, My Jesus & I and she finished reading her Faith and Freedom Prep Reader!! We’re very happy with her reading progress:) 3 We managed to celebrate St Joseph’s Feast Day this week as well as St Patrick’s. St Joseph’s…

7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 76)
1 I can’t believe how much we accomplished last weekend! The baby clothes are now washed and ready and the cradle is assembled and waiting. The small boys room is painted and they moved back into their room. The lounge room was re-claimed and the games cupboard moved to the lounge room. A very productive weekend. 2 Jem has taken a liking to a very strange sandwich combination; peanut butter and Vegemite! No matter how much I plead otherwise, he is determined to eat this!! 3 Elana, of the Gluten Free Almond flour cookbook fame, our absolute favourite cookbook, is releasing a new book on April 26th Gluten Free Cupcakes🙂 Just this week we made some of her cupcakes and we very…

7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 75)
1 Jem has reached the ‘Why?’ stage. Every comment is met with ‘why?’. At present it is rather cute and amusing, but I’m well aware we shall soon find the novelty has worn off. 2 I have finally bought nighties, clothes etc for my hospital visit, so my bag is closer to being packed. I’m hoping, really hoping to wash the baby clothes this weekend and if all goes well and we finish painting the small boys room (so then they move out of the loungeroom and the lounges can move out of my room) I’ll be able to get the baby furniture out of storage too. 3 I managed…

7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 74)
1 Carpenter recently applied for a job in a local retail store, he was pleased to hear this week that his application has been accepted. He starts next week. 2 Progress with our diet and the battle against acne at times feels like two steps forward one step back. The simple reality is this takes real work, commitment and no simple solution but a whole regime of products. Lent is a good time to re-commit. 3 Once again we have struck it lucky at the Convent sales. We picked up three lounge chairs just perfect for the library. The room is now in constant use:) It’s a lovely room to…

7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 73)
1 I’ve had a couple of friends ask me about our current resident ‘batty’, as the children call him. Am I scared of sharing my space with a flying fox? Truthfully, I’m not too thrilled with the idea, however other family members think I’m being rather squeamish and the bat does a wonderful job keeping down the mosquito population. He is getting bigger though and bolder. At 9pm a couple of nights ago he was swooping over our heads as we watched television in the loungeroom, then I discovered he is roosting in my library!! Discovery occurred when I turned on the light and he came out at me. 2…
