7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 171)

1  Last week I posed the question, “How many posts do you have in drafts?” and received answers as varied as; 3, 8, 40 and incredibly 453!! I’ve been inspired to challenge myself, I’m hereby committing to publish/delete at least half of my draft posts in the next seven weeks (before the baby is due). Thankfully I only have 8 draft posts, couldn’t imagine achieving my challenge with 40 or more!!  At least half of the posts are rather heavy and potentially controversial topics (which I’ve previously avoided) so I’ve set myself quite a challenge.  2 Whilst discussing blog posts, I find it fascinating that my recent Leap into Literature…

7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 170)

1 Recently PC idly wondered what it would be like to take a prenatal birth class (after all these years!!) I responded, no way! I’d be hyperventilating instead of using the correct breathing technique!! I don’t plan on even thinking about labour till I’m in the car driving in. With my earlier babies I used to psyche myself up, read books, practice breathing etc, now I’m an ostrich, I avoid thinking about labour, all too fresh in my mind. 2 We’ve been married nearly 21 years, at the conclusion of this pregnancy I would have been pregnant for 7 years, breastfeeding for about 12 years and for the past 20…

7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 169)

1 Yesterday saw the worst fires in NSW in ten years, the sky ver Sydney was dark as nearly one hundred fires blazed throughout the state.  Hundreds of families have lost their homes, it is uncertain if any lives have been lost.  Although weather conditions have cooled, some fires are still being fought.  Please pray for all those who have lost their homes and the fireries fighting the fires and for all others involved. 2 Had a realisation today, as Jem has been promoted to the job list, Jack Jack now has to work independently of me.  However he found it all too overwhelming and was not tackling the task…

7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 168)

1 We’ve enjoyed a relaxing holiday, staying mostly at home, taking it easy.  Our pool has been reclaimed, the children have been spending hours swimming each day.  They’re refreshed, I’m refreshed, looking forward to a promising term of learning come Tuesday. 2 Einstein flew down to the Big Smoke on Wednesday, he was very, very excited.  His first time on a plane and a whole week and a half with his older siblings.  They have lots of plans and exciting events organised.  So very happy to imagine our three older ones together, enjoying each others company. 3 We have been fans of Singapore Maths for over ten years now, but we’re…

7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 167)

1 Earlier this week I shared my thoughts on Embracing Your Unique Creativity, accepting yourself for who you are, with your own unique talents.  Thought I had it all sewn up and was at peace with myself when… I fell into the trap again.  Jem turned 5 this week and I thought he might like a cake, afterall isn’t that what ‘good mothers’ do, bake and decorate birthday cakes. I dreamt that perhaps I could be super talented and try my hand at a decorated theme cake, I’ve always wanted to be talented like that, I really admire that talent.  So I asked him what sort of cake would he…

7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 166)

1 Whilst culling photos recently I realised I would love to print out some of our photos.  It’s been nine years since we’ve printed anything, blush. So I’m pondering whether to print photos or make photo books, any opinions, experience?  What would you do and who would you recommend?  Also I really, really should ‘slurp’ my blog into books.   Quality, price, ease of use are all matters to consider.  Any recommendations for blog books too? 2 It was with great surprise I realised this week that I am already 6 months along, only 3 more months till the baby is here!!  Bit embarrassing to realise I was blithely telling…

7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 165)

1 I spent time this week clearing up space on the computer by deleting photos; doubles, blurred photos etc.  Files that go back to over 7 years ago, I can only shake my head at my photography skills.  They were extremely pitiful, whilst I still have much to learn, I was heartened to realise I have indeed improved. 2 This was our week for season turnover in clothing.  Each child’s wardrobe was gone through and outgrown, unwanted clothing removed.  Eight bags of clothing have been gifted to various friends, a lovely feeling.  Then we took an inventory of clothing needed. 3 With our list in hand we set off to…

7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 164)

1 For the past few weeks I have felt as if I was drowning each time I walked into our library.  There were literally piles and piles of books covering the floor, there was simply not sufficient room on the shelves for all the books.  The time had come to undertake a mega cull.  All week I have been culling and culling and it was rather exciting to drop off  8 boxes of books in town today! 2 Whilst in town I took the opportunity to check out a couple of op-shops, some days you just hit it lucky, and some days are duds, today was a lucky one.  I…

7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 163)

1 In my attempt to expose our children to some craft moments I’ve hit upon a new method.  I’ve divided all of our craft into 5 big boxes, and each day I rotate, basically I heave the box onto the table and encourage the children to create:) 2 This week I’ve been sick for days and suffice it to say the house looks totally trashed.  Yes I have tweens and teens who are totally capable of keeping house, but the truth is, mama’s standard is not achieved without mama’s hand ‘at the wheel.’ 3 I’ve been considering blog designs and what is eye catching and appealing again.  I’ve read various…
